Acting in English 3rd year performances – 2nd module

At Cours Florent, the entire student body and invited public have the pleasure of regularly attending performances by 3rd year students of our school. In the international section, these offerings are real-time supertitled so that the whole audience can follow along without any worries.
This year, teacher/directors Geoffrey Carey, Nathalie Johnston and Anthéa Hill presented inspiring productions developed with their classes, the fruit of research and exploration work during the 2nd module of the 3rd year Acting in English :
« Myths and Monsters », staged by Geoffrey CAREY, a performance art piece based on snippets from contemporary English plays. It was a voyage into the mythic, the macabre, the majestic, and the monstrous.
« Mindwinter X How to Hold your Breath », staged by Nathalie JOHNSTON presented two gripping plays by British playwright Zinnie Harris that confront power, survival, and complicity in a collapsing world. Midwinter drops us into a war-torn landscape where morality and survival clash. How to Hold Your Breath follows Dana’s fall from privilege to precariousness, exposing capitalism’s false promises when Europe suddenly tightens their borders.
« People, Places, and Things », staged by Anthea HILL presented a fierce and fast-paced dive into addiction, recovery, and the blurred lines between truth and performance. We followed Emma, an actress spiraling out of control, as she battles her demons and takes on the most challenging role of her life—being herself. This evening also included the screening of three short films: Passing Strangers, The Black Hole and Parenthood.
We can't wait to see these same students again for their end-of-the-year professional show-case performance in two months' time.
